CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A motorist helped arrest a suspect after joining the pursuit and then failing to stop in time to avoid crashing into the door of a deputy’s vehicle.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1JvG9gi) 56-year-old Marvin Soul will not face charges for his efforts to assist Laramie County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Yocum, who was alone in his pursuit of a speeding Dodge Durango that appeared to have intentionally sideswiped a stopped vehicle.

Department spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell says that’s when Soul joined the high-speed pursuit, which is never encouraged.

The pursued vehicle eventually slid off the road and an 18-year-old Hillsdale man exited. Yocum opened his car door and was met with Soul’s GMC 3500.

Trooper Gabriel Testerman says Yocum arrested the suspect with Soul’s help.

No one was injured.
