BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The new police chief in Vermont’s largest city is set to take office.

Incoming Burlington Police Chief Brandon del Pozo is scheduled to be sworn in on Tuesday.

Del Pozo is coming to Vermont from the New York City Police Department, where he served for 18 years.

He is replacing retired chief Michael Schirling.

Del Pozo tells the Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1MYxAiw ) that right after he’s sworn in he plans to be briefed on the city’s major open cases.

He says he’s excited to be in Vermont.
