NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say a prisoner who escaped from police custody has been found.

Police say Tiffany Neumann was re-arrested around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in Upper Manhattan. Charges were pending.

Authorities say the 23-year-old managed to slip out of her handcuffs and walk out of a hospital on Sunday. She’d been taken there after claiming she was pregnant.

She was originally arrested on theft charges.

The police officer who had taken her into custody was suspended on Monday. NYPD Chief of Department James O’Neill says her escape was due to inattentiveness and carelessness.

It was the latest such escape in recent months.

It was not immediately clear whether Neumann had an attorney who could comment on the original charges.
