MCARTHUR, Ohio (AP) - The State Highway Patrol says a woman and her 4-year-old daughter died as a result of a two-vehicle crash in southern Ohio.

A patrol release says the woman was driving northbound on State Route 93 in Vinton County on Monday when her car crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck traveling southbound.

The patrol says the woman was dead at the scene of the head-on crash near McArthur and her daughter died later at a Columbus hospital. The driver of the pickup was treated for minor injuries at a hospital in Logan and released.

Patrol officials say the mother was not wearing a seatbelt and the child was in a booster seat that wasn’t properly installed in the car.

A dispatcher said Tuesday that the investigation was continuing.
