MIAMI (AP) - Police are investigating after they say a car was stolen in southwest Miami-Dade with a 1-year-old boy inside.

Miami-Dade police say the child has been reunited with his family following the incident on Monday night. Authorities say the child’s mother had dropped by a friend’s house just before 8 p.m. and had left the child inside the running vehicle.

Police say when she walked out of the house, the car was gone and a bike was left on the scene.

Authorities say the woman immediately called police, who issued a “be on the lookout” order. Police say around 8:40 p.m., investigators found the car abandoned with the unharmed baby inside.

Authorities say the suspect remains at large.

The investigation is ongoing.
