CLEVELAND (AP) - A suspect who authorities say killed a man in a shootout after an attempted robbery while riding a bicycle has been charged with aggravated murder in Cleveland.

A judge Monday ordered 20-year-old Steven Nelson of Cleveland held on a $500,000 bond. Nelson was arrested at a hospital when he sought treatment for a gunshot wound to the foot. Nelson also is charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

Police say Nelson approached two men from behind while riding a bicycle early Saturday and tried to rob them at gunpoint. Police say 27-year-old Leonard Goins IV pulled out a gun and a shootout ensued. Goins was shot in the head. The other man with Goins wasn’t injured.

No attorney information was available for Nelson. He didn’t enter a plea.
