PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Prescott man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Prescott police say 25-year-old Daniel Carr also is being held on suspicion of resisting arrest, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They say an officer responded last Saturday afternoon to a report of a man down in a Prescott Courthouse bathroom.

The police officer reported finding lying on the floor in the middle of one of the bathroom stalls with drug paraphernalia near him.

Authorities say Carr became aggressive and combative and allegedly pushed the officer and resisted arrest by attempting to run away.

During the incident, police say the officer suffered a serious injury to his hand and required hospital treatment.

It was unclear Monday if Carr has an attorney yet.
