OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A banker from Atoka has been appointed to serve as chairman of a House subcommittee whose chairman died in April.

House Speaker Jeff Hickman on Tuesday named Rep. Charles McCall to serve as chairman of the House Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee on Revenue and Taxation. McCall previously served as vice-chairman of the panel under the late Rep. David Dank, who died in April.

A Republican from Atoka, McCall is chief executive officer and chairman of the board at AmeriState Bank.

The subcommittee typically is assigned bills dealing with tax policy, tax credits and other reforms to the state’s tax system.
