GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - A power outage in Grants Pass has caused 240,000 gallons of wastewater to be dumped into the Rogue River.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1fThrOv ) that a blown transformer caused the outage Sunday. The water had already gone through the filtering and decontamination phases, but was not disinfected because one backup system did not turn on when the power went out.

City officials say the amount of water was small in scale and should pose no hazards to wildlife or people downstream.
