SPENCER, W.Va. (AP) - An adult drug court serving Roane and Calhoun counties is opening.

Supreme Court Justice Brent D. Benjamin will attend the opening ceremony Tuesday at the Roane County Courthouse in Spencer.

Adult drug courts are aimed at reducing recidivism and substance about among high-risk offenders.

The West Virginia Legislature enacted legislation to create adult and juvenile drug courts. Under the Justice Reinvestment Act, adult drug courts should be established in all of West Virginia’s counties by July 2016.
