AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Police are investigating the shooting of a teenager at a suburban Denver park that prompted three nearby schools to be temporarily locked down.

The Aurora Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1iAiFjv) that a 16-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police closed streets around Parklane Park in Aurora where the shooting happened. Three nearby schools that were locked down were open again by about 3:30 p.m., according to KMGH-TV (https://bit.ly/1NkPfRL ).

The schools were Park Lane Elementary, Paris Elementary and North Middle School.

The newspaper reports that the boy appears to have been shot on an arm and face, according to scanner traffic from emergency responders.
