PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Attorney General Marty Jackley says South Dakota residents should watch out for predators online who use shared sexually explicit photos and videos in blackmail schemes.

Jackley’s office said Wednesday that the Division of Criminal Investigation has recently been looking into such incidents across the state.

Jackley says predators get their victims to share sexually explicit photos and videos and then threaten to distribute the material if they’re not paid.

He says victims should contact law enforcement at the local level.
