MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Allegiant Air says it is adding nonstop flights connecting Memphis and Phoenix starting in December.

The discount airline said Wednesday that the twice-weekly flights from Memphis International Airport to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport are scheduled to begin Dec. 17.

The airline is offering one-way flights starting at $71. In order to get that rate, customers must buy tickets by Sept. 14, for travel by May 17 of next year.

Allegiant is also starting nonstop flights to Phoenix-Mesa airport from Fresno, California, and Des Moines, Iowa.
