CORVALLIS, Mont. (AP) - A man is accused of throwing a hatchet at a sheriff’s deputy who responded to his parents’ Corvallis home after they told authorities he had hit his mother and also thrown a hatchet at them.

The Ravalli Republic reports (https://bit.ly/1FAnSgd ) that 24-year-old Shadrick Steven Traver faces several assault charges and was in Ravalli County court Wednesday where a judge set bail at $10,000.

Authorities say Traver allegedly starting hitting his mother while his parents were unpacking at their home after a move from California. His parents told sheriff’s deputies he threw an 18-inch hatchet at their car as they left.
