MOSCOW (AP) - Dynamo Moscow has been hit with a transfer embargo by the Russian football authorities over unpaid transfer fees.

The Russian Football Union ruled Thursday that Dynamo will not be allowed to register any new players until it clears debts related to four signings including former Queens Park Rangers defender Christopher Samba and Russia midfielder Igor Denisov.

Dynamo has struggled off the pitch this year, with UEFA barring the club from the Europa League this season for overspending and breaking financial fair-play rules.

Following that UEFA sanction, the club’s majority owner VTB Bank has begun to transfer its shares to the Dynamo sports society, which originally founded the football team in 1923 to represent the Soviet police and security services.
