WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) - Lake Area Tech has increased its fall enrollment for the 12th straight year.

The Watertown school says 1,846 students are enrolled for the fall semester, a 7 percent increase from the fall of 2014.

Director of Student Services LuAnn Strait says the school received a boost in national attention thanks to President Barack Obama’s trip to deliver its 2015 commencement address and its Aspen Prize recognition as one of the top two-year colleges.

Strait also cities Lake Area Tech’s full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships, its 98 percent placement rate after graduation, its ability to offer programs in high-demand, high-pay fields and the growing popularity of online degrees.
