GALLATIN, Tenn. (AP) - A former Sumner County Sheriff’s Office major has been indicted on multiple charges in connection to an ongoing misconduct investigation.

Multiple media outlets report 55-year-old Don Linzy was indicted Wednesday on two counts of official misconduct, one count of theft under $500 and five counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance.

Officials say agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Linzy last month after prescription narcotics were discovered missing from the department’s evidence and property room.

During the investigation, officials say agents identified Linzy as the person responsible for the disappearance of the medications. He later resigned from his position with the department.

Linzy was booked into the county jail and has been released on bond. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
