CEDARVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 48-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the slaying of a 43-year-old Upper Peninsula woman whose body was found in the trunk of her vehicle.

Gregory Ihander was arraigned Thursday in Menominee County.

A state police trooper discovered Jolene Eichhorn’s body after finding the vehicle Wednesday morning at the Cedar River State Harbor in Cedarville Township, near Escanaba.

Eichhorn’s personal property was in-sight. Authorities checked the trunk after learning that she didn’t show up for work and relatives were unable to contact Eichhorn.

An autopsy was being performed to determine how she died.

WLUK-TV reports that county Prosecutor Daniel Hass called her death “a tragic result of domestic violence.”

Ihander is due back in court on Sept. 24. His bond was set at $1 million.
