MANNS HARBOR, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Ferry Division is preparing its transition to the fall schedule.

A statement from the division says the first change will occur on Sept. 15, when the Cedar Island-Ocracoke and Swan Quarter-Ocracoke routes switch to the off-season schedule. There will be three daily round-trip departures on the two routes.

One week later, the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry switches to its so-called “shoulder season” schedule, which refers to just off peak season when some tourists still visit the area but not as many as during the summer. The off-season winter schedule begins on Nov. 10.

The Southport-Fort Fisher ferry will switch to its off-season routes on Sept. 28, when it reduces its runs to 14 trips a day. Weekend trips will drop to 13 departures a day from both sides.
