DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A new $5.1 million 911 call center has been approved for Dothan and Houston County.

The Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/1Nq9HCi ) reports a communication board agreed this week to fund the project.

The board Wednesday approved borrowing money to fund the new facility, which will house city and county dispatchers. It will also host the Houston County Emergency Management Agency. The building will be designed to withstand major disasters.

Construction is expected to begin soon, although an exact date has not been set.
