NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced the owner of a dietary supplements company to 40 months in prison for his role in the sale of diluted and adulterated dietary ingredients and supplements.

Seventy-year-old Barry Steinlight of Hackettstown pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Prosecutors say Steinlight deceived customers by delivering bogus, mislabeled products through Flanders-based Raw Deal Inc.

Prosecutors say Steinlight told employees to add fillers to the dietary ingredients and supplements packaged for and sold to Raw Deal customers from at least 2009 through November 2013. Prosecutors say he also directed employees to falsely certify that certain products were kosher or organic.
