WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - State police say a pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car on the eastbound side of Interstate 84 in Connecticut.

Police say the crash happened after 8 p.m. Wednesday near exit 40 in West Hartford.

Officials say the left and center lanes were closed between exits 40 and 41.

The pedestrian has not been publicly identified.

Witnesses tell WVIT-TV a car stopped on the side of the highway apparently had a broken windshield.

Police have not released any information on the circumstances leading up to the crash.
