LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A public art project seeking to brighten the dark area under a bridge along the border between Lansing and East Lansing has met its fundraising goal.

The Lansing State Journal reports (https://on.lsj.com/1O3B8BT ) the Lansing Economic Area Partnership met its $50,000 goal for the project along Michigan Avenue below U.S. 127. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. now is expected to match the $50,000.

Artist Brian Whitfield, who lives in the area, was selected to paint four large murals at the underpass. Lighting also will be improved.

The “Under the Bridge” crowdfunding campaign used Patronicity, an online fundraising site. Work on the murals is expected to take place in the spring.
