WHAT’S AT STAKE

Arizona hopes to start faster than it did last week, leading Texas-San Antonio only 21-20 at the half and giving up 525 yards total offense before winning 42-32. The Mountain West’s Wolf Pack are looking for their third upset of a Pac-12 team in four years.

KEY MATCHUP

Arizona QB Anu Solomon vs. Nevada’s defense. Solomon completed 22-of-26 attempts for 229 yards and four touchdowns last week as the Wildcats’ first returning starting signal caller since Nick Foles in 2011. He threw for 278 yards and three TDs in a 35-28 win over Nevada as a freshman last year. He faces a Nevada defense by DE Ian Seau, nephew of the late NFL Hall of Famer Junior Seau.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Arizona: RB Nick Wilson, a 5-10, 199-pounder who led all Pac-12 freshmen in total yards last season, ran for 97 yards last week. He carried 29 times for 171 yards and two TDs against Nevada at Tucson a year ago.

Nevada: QB Tyler Stewart, a 6-4 senior, showed poise completing 13 of 20 for 163 yards and a TD last week after battling redshirt-freshman Hunter Fralick for the starting job.

Arizona is without LB Scooby Wright, an All-American, who injured his knee in the opener… The Wildcats’ four road wins last year (4-1) were their most since 1998. … After switching to DB last season, Arizona senior Johnny Jackson returned to wide receiver last week with a career-best 101 yards on eight catches and a TD… Nevada beat Washington State 24-13 last year, and won at Cal 31-23 in 2012 but lost to Arizona their last two meetings, including the 2012 New Mexico Bowl when the Wildcats scored twice in the final 46 seconds to win 49-48… Nevada won in Arizona’s only previous visit to Reno, 23-14 in 1924.
