CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A sixth person has been killed in Charlotte in the last six days.

Police told local media outlets that 42-year-old Anthony Barbour was shot on a city street Thursday afternoon during an argument.

Barbour’s death is the 44th homicide in Charlotte this year. That’s two more than the total for all of 2014.

Lt. Zeru Chickoree said at least one man drove away from the scene. Officers were interviewing witnesses but have not released the name of a suspect in Barbour’s death.

Police have increased patrols across the city after a violent Labor Day weekend where five people were killed in less than 24 hours.
