BANGOR, Maine (AP) - The Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway is canceling harness races next week in the wake of the death of a worker.

Sixty-four-year-old Edwin Reynolds of Machias died after an accident involving the starting gate vehicle. The casino says the accident occurred during routine maintenance at the track on Wednesday.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/1Nm0CZD ) reports a spokeswoman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the agency has opened an investigation into the death. A spokesman for the casino says it is cooperating with the investigation.

Reynolds was a 21-year employee of the track and was listed in the program as a barn and track superintendent.

The next scheduled race date is Oct. 5. The spokesman says the canceled races may be rescheduled but a date has not been determined.
