LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - An Albany County school district is creating a committee to research its proposed transgender policy.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1K0GgRs) board members for Albany County School District No. 1 decided Wednesday to establish the group after hearing public input.

School Board clerk Jason Tangeman volunteered for the committee and said he’s concerned with confidentiality and disclosure issues.

Parent Heather Larson said she is concerned about allowing transgender or non-gender conforming students to use the same locker rooms and bathrooms as her daughters.

Laramie High School senior Rihanna Kelver is the president of an on-campus group called Safe Area for LGBT Youth. She said enacting a policy like this would bring comfort to young people districtwide.
