MACON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old girl has died after being hit by a truck as she walked to a store in east Macon.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Ma’lijah Seales was walking with a relative to the store Thursday evening when authorities say she ran into traffic.

The Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1ULtP0U) that the girl was struck by a 1973 Ford truck driven by a 29-year-old man.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said the girl was taken to a Macon hospital, then transferred to a children’s hospital in Atlanta, where she died late Thursday night.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was continuing their investigation of the accident and asking that anyone with information contact them.
