SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A Syracuse man’s attempts to suppress statements he made to police about injuring his 3-month-old son have been denied by an Onondaga County Court judge.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1J2icM7 ) 27-year-old Felipe Lebron has been charged with manslaughter in the death of his son, Anthony.

Prosecutors say Lebron confessed to shaking the boy on Jan. 5 inside Lebron’s Douglas Street home. Anthony died six days later at Upstate University Hospital.

Police say while Anthony was hospitalized, Lebron confessed to investigators that he had picked the boy up and “whipped” his head.

Defense attorney Ed Klein argued his client was forced into an interrogation by police.

Judge Anthony Aloi said Thursday Lebron’s statement will be admissible at trial.

Lebron’s next court appearance is Oct. 26.
