KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Federal regulators are investigating the serious injury of a 43-year-old service technician who was hurt while testing electrical parts for a northwest Missouri company.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration office in Kansas City says the worker was hurt Wednesday and was being treated for life-threatening injuries.

OSHA says the man was working at a commercial facility for Greg’s Appliance Mart in St. Joseph when he was injured. OSHA spokeswoman Barbara Theriot says the agency is trying to determine whether any safety regulation violations contributed to the accident.

OSHA says its electrical standards are designed to protect workers exposed to such dangers as electric shock, electrocution, fires and explosions.
