LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The U.S. Postal Service is offering special events to make it easier to apply for a passport.

The events are Sept. 19 at certain post offices throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana. Extra staff will be available and application hours will be expanded on that day. Passport photo service will also be available.

Applicants will need original proof of U.S. citizenship and proof of identity and a photocopy of proof of ID. The application requires a recent photo, 2 inches by 2 inches. Also download and complete the application at https://www.travel.state.gov beforehand. Applicants must appear in person.

Passport fairs will be held in Benton, Brownsville, Danville, Georgetown, Lexington, Louisville, Mayfield, Monticello, Nazareth, Nicholasville, Pikeville, Richmond, Somerset and Williamsburg in Kentucky and New Albany and Newburgh in Indiana.
