HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say thunderstorms expected to develop over parts of Alabama could bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service says the storms are expected to develop in northern Alabama along and ahead of a cold front that will move through the state Friday afternoon and evening.

Forecasters said that in southwest Alabama, stronger storms that develop will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain.

Dense fog was also a problem Friday morning, as forecasters said it was expected to cut visibility to a quarter of a mile or less in the Birmingham area.
