OCALA, Fla. (AP) - A 76-year-old woman is recovering in a hospital after being attacked by dogs as she got mail from her mailbox.

The Ocala Star-Banner (https://bit.ly/1iiuyej ) reports Dawn Thompson was attacked by a pit bull, a pit bull mix, a retriever mix and a German shepherd outside her home near Ocala on Tuesday.

Authorities say Thompson suffered puncture wounds all over her body. A neighbor was able to get the dogs off of Thompson. She was taken to the hospital where she was listed in fair condition on Thursday evening.

Marion County spokeswoman Barbra Hernandez says the dogs had escaped from a neighboring yard. Their owner had been issued a dangerous dog warning earlier this year. Animal services removed the dogs and are holding them in quarantine.
