RACINE, Wis. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 14-year-old boy with fatally shooting a teenage girl while the two were inside a Racine home last week.

The Journal Times reports the Racine boy was charged as an adult Monday with first-degree reckless homicide, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun. Cash bond was set at $250,000. The Associated Press is not identifying the boy in case his case is moved to juvenile court, where proceedings are closed.

The boy is accused of killing 14-year-old Vista Jackson of Racine. The complaint says the two were inside the home Thursday night and another person heard them say they loved each other, and then “a pop.”

Police arrested the boy Friday evening. His initial appearance is set for Sept. 23.
