PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) - Funeral arrangements have been set for Mayor Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta, the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history.
City spokeswoman Ellie Hebert tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (https://bit.ly/1iqFrKS ) a two-day celebration of his life will be held Tuesday and Wednesday.
A public visitation is scheduled Tuesday at Plaquemine City Hall from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until the funeral mass at 2 p.m. Following the mass, a jazz procession from the church to the burial site will be held.
Gulotta died of a heart attack Sept. 11. He was 57. He served six consecutive terms, 22 years.
Hebert says the Board of Selectmen will meet Sept. 22 to name an interim mayor to serve the remainder of Gulotta’s term.
