BUNKIE, La. (AP) - A job fair is set for Tuesday as the state Office of Juvenile Justice begins hiring employees for a new detention facility in Bunkie.

The Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/1QAHBTx ) the Acadiana Center for Youth is scheduled to open in July. It will employ 124 workers.

The job fair is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Haas Auditorium. Many of the new hires will be in professional and support-based positions, including administrative, social services, treatment, education, direct care, dietary and maintenance.

OJJ Deputy Assistant Secretary Johnny Qualls says hiring will be done in tiers, with the director and administration staff first so they can attend a five-week training course. Once completed, hiring for other positions will begin.
