CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s unemployment rate went down slightly in August.

The state employment security office says the preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in August, a decrease of a tenth of a percentage point from the July rate, which was 3.7 percent.

The August 2014 seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.2 percent.

The state estimates that 720,640 people were employed last month, a decrease of 270 from the previous month and an increase of 11,300 from August 2014.

Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August was 5.1 percent.
