CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The Concord City Council has voted to buy a historic wagon for $75,000.

The Concord Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/1J9dmg6 ) the Abbot-Downing Historical Society is raising money to buy seven historic vehicles made in Concord by the 19th-century company. The group has raised at least $60,000 so far but needs a total of $175,000.

Its members say the vehicles will be sold to a museum in the Midwest if they are not bought.

The council unanimously agreed on Monday to buy the Abbot-Downing Barge “Shattuck Wagon” - the rarest of the seven - using money from city’s economic development reserve fund.

The historical society will be responsible for maintaining, preserving and displaying the vehicle.
