Driver killed when pickup truck rear-ends minivan

MARRIOTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Howard County Police say a pickup truck driver was killed when his vehicle rear-ended a minivan in Marriottsville.

It happened about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday on Route 144 at Homeland Way. Police say 42-year-old Kerry Antorzeza Becker of Woodstock was slowing in traffic when her vehicle was rear-ended by a truck.

Officers say the driver of the truck, 72-year-old Larry Sturgill of Marriottsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Becker was not hurt.

Police say the crash is under investigation, but neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors.
