DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A 20-year-old man has been arrested in the deaths of two men whose bodies were found less than a block apart last week in Des Moines.

Albert Jeffrey Garcia was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 20-year-old Demetrius Thomas and 19-year-old Mohammad Nabeel Mirzai, both of Des Moines.

According to authorities, officers responded to a report Sept. 11 about someone who might be injured and found the body of one of the men. Police say the second body was a short distance away.

It was not immediately clear if Garcia has an attorney.
