AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A former Vermont police officer charged with pointing a gun at a driver and passenger in Maine has pleaded guilty to criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
Demitria Buhalis, of Brownsville, Vermont entered a plea agreement Tuesday in Augusta as part of a deal that could result in a lighter sentence. She is facing a $575 fine or up to a 10-day jail sentence.
Forty-two-year-old Buhalis lost her job as a police officer at the White River Junction VA Medical Center in Vermont, after she was arrested in April.
Authorities said she pulled a loaded gun on two men in another vehicle as the two cars were traveling south on I-95 in Sidney.
A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 20.
