KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee Chief Justice Sharon Lee has asked a group of trial judges to study the time it takes for cases to make their way through the judicial process.

Lee says people aren’t confident of a court system that takes too long to resolve cases. She’s asked the trial judges to propose appropriate time standards to the Supreme Court for adoption, providing guidance to trial judges.

Lee spoke at the Knoxville Bar Association’s Supreme Court Dinner, an annual event honoring the court and the justices.

The chief justice also said e-filing is in the works for the newly launched Business Court and also planned for the appellate courts. The Supreme Court said in a news release Wednesday that the goal is to have appellate e-filing in place by next fall.
