PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter criticized a special investigation into the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections, while the report’s author compared the mayor to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (https://bit.ly/1F440rf ) Nutter called City Controller Alan Butkovitz’s report “outrageous,” ”misguided” and “irresponsible” at a news conference Wednesday with embattled inspections commissioner Carlton Williams by his side.

Butkovitz’s report called for Williams’ dismissal due to department issues ranging from excessive overtime to jeopardizing public safety.

The inspections department came under fire after six people died during a 2013 building collapse at 22nd and Market streets.

Nutter claims Butkovitz is on a “personal crusade” to damage the reputation of Williams.

Butkovitz says Nutter is doing a “weak Donald Trump imitation” to mask prior cutbacks he made to the department.
