HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - A Hampton teenager faces charges of having a gun on school property.

Hampton police say the loaded gun was discovered after the 17-year-old male was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Police say in a news release that the administration at Campus at Lee called police regarding a disorderly student on Wednesday morning. The school’s resource officer escorted the student out of the building. The student was arrested after he continued to be disorderly.

The gun was found during a search of the student.

The student was in the process of enrolling at the school when the incident occurred.

He was charged with possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct and underage possession of a firearm. He was placed in the custody of Juvenile Detention.
