PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - Law enforcement officials in the Detroit area will join judges, clergy and others to reflect on the principles of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.

The Thursday afternoon event at the Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial in Pontiac is part of Patriot Week observances in Michigan.

It is hosted by Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon and Detroit Police Chief James Craig.

Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano and state Appeals court Judge Kirsten Frank Kelly also will participate.

The state Senate in 2012 designated Sept. 11-17 as Michigan Patriot Week. It recognizes the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as well as the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.
