COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A West Virginia woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in an April 2014 robbery in Columbus’ Hilltop neighborhood that resulted in the shooting death of an accomplice.
The Columbus Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1OgyFnS ) 23-year-old Heather Jarvis pleaded guilty Wednesday and was sentenced for aggravated robbery and involuntary manslaughter charges.
Jarvis was initially charged with murder under a state law recommending the charge if a co-conspirator dies while in the process of committing or fleeing from a crime.
Prosecutors say Jarvis and 24-year-old Larry Mausali traveled from Parkersburg, West Virginia to collect money from Kenneth Owens’ son.
The two turned a gun on the elder Owens at his Hague Avenue home and demanded he drive them to withdraw money.
Owens fatally shot Mausali in his car.
