LAUREL, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a Maryland man was killed when his pickup truck collided with a tour bus headed to Niagara Falls.

The crash occurred on Fort Meade Road in Laurel on Thursday night. City spokeswoman Audrey Barnes says the bus tried to turn left and didn’t yield to the truck.

Barnes says the bus traveling from Washington to Niagara Falls was carrying 58 passengers. It was not immediately clear whether the bus was headed to the New York or Ontario side of the waterfall, which straddles the border with Canada.

Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue spokesman Mark Brady says the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital, where he died. Police identified the man as 45-year-old Michael Palomo of Silver Spring.

Brady says seven passengers were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
