DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say two suspects have been charged with robberies connected to the slayings of two men whose bodies were found less than a block apart last week in Des Moines.

Police say 20-year-old Shamair Gainey and 18-year-old Roberto Baez-Alvarez, both of Des Moines, have been arrested. Online court records don’t list the names of attorneys who could be contacted to comment on behalf of one or both men.

On Tuesday police arrested Albert Jeffrey Garcia, charging him with two counts of murder in the deaths of 20-year-old Demetrius Thomas and 19-year-old Mohammad Nabeel Mirzai, both of Des Moines.

Officers who responded to a report Sept. 11 about someone who might be injured found the body of one of the men. Police say the second body was a short distance away.
