SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Former Vice President Al Gore and pro football Hall of Famer Jim Brown are among the dignitaries attending the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship being held in central New York.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1V0g5EN ) Gore and Brown were among the crowd attending a private dinner held Thursday night on the Onondaga Nation. The reservation just south of Syracuse is hosting games during the 10-day completion that starts Friday, along with the War Memorial Arena in downtown Syracuse.

The dinner, which was hosted by the Onondaga Nation, featured the 13 teams competing in the world games, their coaches and more than 250 guests.

The crowd gave Brown and Onondaga Nation Faithkeeper Oren Lyons standing ovations when they took the stage. The two played lacrosse together at Syracuse University.

The Iroquois Nationals play Team USA Friday night at the War Memorial.
