CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Burns man who was convicted of second-degree murder for shooting his wife in the face in front of the couple’s three young grandchildren last summer has been sentenced to 45 years to life in prison.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (https://goo.gl/BKXnDx ) Ronald T. Zimmerman was sentenced Friday for the July 20, 2014, death of Teresa Zimmerman.

Ronald Zimmerman, who was convicted in June, argued the shooting was an accident. He said he was fiddling with a 12-gauge shotgun when it went off.
